HAMPSHIRE Farmers’ Market have joined forced with a marina firm to stage a waterfront food festival.

MDL Marinas will host Shamrock Quay’s first ever food festival this Saturday featuring more than of 20 Hampshire producers.

Among those offering visitors the chance to try before they buy will be bakers Berceries, fishcake makers Catch Isle of Wight, pie-makers FNK, gin distillers Silent Pool and Winchester Distillery, Fordingbridge Fudge and Cupcakes "mmm" Cookies from Southampton.

The marina's own restaurant Quay Fifteen will also be hosting an oyster bar and Gavin Barnes, head chef from Hotel TerraVina in the New Forest will be creating some "posh fish and chips".

Visitors will also be able to pick up some cookery tips from live demonstrations by executive chef at the Exclusive Chef’s Academy, Andy Mackenzie, Rocky Moore from Quay Fifteen, and John and Sylvia of JS Fresh Fish, based on the quay.

There will also be a classic car exhibition, live rhythm and blues music, face painting and a display of woodturning by Three Copse Woodland.

Alex Handford, business manager at Hampshire Farmers’ Market, said: “This is the first time we’ve held such an event with MDL Marinas and it’s shaping up to be a great day out. We’re looking forward to welcoming 23 producers to the quay for the community to enjoy.”

Shamrock Quay is in William Street and Saturday's festival is open from 10am-4pm.
