CATERING students at a Hampshire college are able to serve up their latest offerings in a plush new restaurant.

Eastleigh College has opened its new training restaurant – East Avenue!

The restaurant previously the Red Carpet, has been completely renovated and an additional kitchen has been added.

Hospitality students who serve in the restaurant have also been kitted out in smart new black uniforms and aprons with the East Avenue branding.

East Avenue is part of a £12 million redevelopment of the college, which also includes a new Advanced Technology Centre for engineering and construction, new facilities for the teaching of Art and Design and Hair and Beauty.

Dr Jan Edrich, Eastleigh College chief executive and principal, said: “We are delighted to have secured funding for these modern facilities; they will offer our students a fantastic environment in which to learn.”

The 58-seat restaurant which is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday lunchtimes and Thursday and Friday evenings is open to the public but tables must be booked.

Highlights from the three-course menu include pan-fried cod supreme, Tandoori marinated pork fillet, and a pea, feta and mint mille-feuille. To book visit: eastleigh.ac.uk or contact 023 8091 1053.
