THE district will truly be alive with the sound of musicals this February.

Winchester Musical and Opera Society (WMOS) will be putting on a concert celebrating the best in musical theatre.

The award-winning company will be performing The Sound of Musicals in three venues West Meon Village Hall on February 27, Colden Common Community Centre February 28, and Pilgrims Hall, Winchester on February 29.

The evening will feature songs from musicals old and new such as My Fair Lady, Les Misérables and Waitress. The company will also be performing music from Gilbert & Sullivan, through Rodgers and Hammerstein, to Sondheim and Lloyd-Webber.

The societies last show in November was Jekyll & Hyde which was described as ‘a showcase for a company at the top of its game.’ Before that in May the society performed Made in Dagenham

The cast of The Sound of Musicals cannot wait to get their teeth into something completely different, taking on parts and numbers that the society has never done before, in its 107-year history.

Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are £10.

Tickets can be bought from the WMOS website or ticketsource.co.uk/winchester-musicals-and-opera-society. Alternatively, you can book via by telephone by dialling 0333 666 3366.
