CHANDLER'S Ford-based firm, Mackoy, has been appointed by Bellway Homes Wessex to conduct the groundworks for a new 34-home development in Fair Oak .

The £1.6 million groundworks project is for a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses, which will total more than 30,000 square feet, and Mackoy will work on site for an initial four months and then return to finish off once the plots have been built.

Mackoy’s job involves extensive earthworks, laying the foundations, carrying out the blockwork and oversites work such as drainage.

Nick Furner, head of construction at Bellway Homes Wessex, said: “With three schools and good amenities, Fair Oak has seen an eruption of development and we know demand for our new homes off Knowle Lane will be high in such a desirable location.”

“We’ve been working with Mackoy in the region for a number of years now and are always impressed with the team’s ability to deliver high quality workmanship to schedule.”

Mike Mayock, managing director of Mackoy, said: “It’s great to be involved in bringing new housing to this growing area and to be working once again with the Bellway team, who awarded us our first major deal back in 2011. Site strip and levelling was completed just before Christmas and we have now begun piling works.

“We’re working on several housing developments in this part of Hampshire at the moment, which works well for our resourcing and also the monitoring of our sites.”
