HOT shots at a sponsored clay pigeon shoot helped raise £15,00 for a cancer charity.

Peters & May Group, the Eastleigh-based marine logistics and yacht transport firm, hosted their annual event at Pennsport in Thatcham, Berkshire in aid of the Breast Unit Charity at Princess Alexandra Hospital by the Breast Unit Charity.

The shoot, now its fifth year, has raised £100,000 to help fund one of the largest breast cancer clinical trials facilities in the country.

This year 17 teams competed, including new entries Pantaenius and the ladies only team. Sponsors of the event included Mitsubishi Motors UK, Pantaenius, Hude, Delphini, BBC Chartering and Spitfire Marketing.

It was Constantine Group who won first place after some impressive shots with the Peters & May team in second..

After the shooting, participants relaxed with a drink or two, networking and browsing the many stands that joined the event this year.

The 85 guests then enjoyed a gourmet barbecue lunch before the day concluded with the charity auction.

This year 12 auction items were donated, including a Nico Rosberg F1 print by the late Tim Skett, exclusive shooting accessories, and a unique Indian cooking experience.

Peters & May's CEO David Holley said: “It’s great to see so many industry faces and partners out in full support for such a deserving charity. To hear about the fantastic projects that the funds will go towards, really opens your eyes as to how much further a charity like the Breast Unit Charity goes."

“The funds raised today will contribute to new equipment, ground-breaking clinical trials and life changing research which is fantastic! However, with such a disease, part of the battle is a mental one. The Breast Unit Charity work hard to support the mental wellbeing of patients with initiatives such as Fabulous & Beautiful pamper days and the ‘Moving on Pathway Programme’.

"All of this extra work makes a massive difference to those suffering and their families. The battle towards a cure is long and hard one - but it’s nice to know that through this event we can make such a difference”.

Ashraf Patel from The Breast Unit Charity thanked Peters & May: “It’s fundraising events like these that make such a huge difference in the work we can carry out."

The firm thanked sponsors Mitsubishi Motors UK, Hude, Delphini, BBC Chartering and Spitfire Marketing and new insurance partner Pantaenius for their support.
